By simply turning out all non-essential lighting – in many public areas and buildings – we will join hundreds of millions of concerned citizens across the globe in showing the world we can work together to resolve the issue of global warming.

We’d like to invite you to join us in this significant and historic moment. Dollface Magazine will begin the initiative at 7:30PM, by having our office and homes lit by candles and alternative light sources and we will continue through midnight. Everybody is encouraged to participate and switch off or reduce the usage of lights, air conditioners and other equipment. Please remember that a TV on stand-by also consumes electricity, as does the mobile phone charger without the phone connected to it. And the large aim is not to save some energy for a few hours a year but to raise general awareness. And perhaps you will take a few thoughts and actions into your everyday life.

In 2008, more than 50 million people in 400 cities around the world took part, as the lights dimmed at Sydney’s Opera House, Rome’s Coliseum and the Empire State Building. Even the Google homepage went dark for the occasion.

In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

On Saturday 27 March, Earth Hour 2010 became the biggest Earth Hour ever. A record 128 countries and territories joined the global display of climate action. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas switched off. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet.

Earth Hour 2011 marked the biggest year in the campaign, reaffirming it as the largest ever voluntary action for the environment. A record 5,251 cities and towns in 135 countries and territories in all seven continents participated with an estimated reach of 1.8 billion people across the globe. In addition to this, the campaign’s digital footprint grew to 91 million.

EARTH HOUR 2012 – “I WILL IF YOU WILL” 

This year Earth Hour has launched “I Will If You Will” on YouTube to showcase how everyone has the power to change the world we live in, bringing together the world’s biggest social video platform with the ‘world’s largest action for the environment’.

1. Ice Cubes

Ice cubes will shrink the redness and inflammation of a pimple and make it less noticeable.

2. Toothpaste

Apply a very small amount of toothpaste on the pimple before you go to bed, and when you wake up it should have drastically reduced in size.

3. Garlic

This is one of the most smelliest acne home remedies that I’ve ever known, so people don’t choose this remedy if your next day emergency is a first date:D! 
If you rub raw garlic on and around the problem areas several times a day, you can clear up your skin. You may also eat three seeds of raw garlic once a day for a month to see results. The garlic seeds purify the blood, which help keeping pimples away.

4. Orange Peel

After orange peels are pounded and combined with water to a paste, apply it only to the affected areas and watch the results!

5. Honey

Honey has antimicrobial properties, so it’s especially great for acne prone skin types.
Dab a small amount of honey on the pimple as soon as the head becomes visible. Put a band-aid on it, and go to sleep. When you wake up, it’ll be gone! Don’t forget to moisturize afterwards!

6. Oatmeal

Cook some oatmeal and apply it, when it’s cool enough, to the face. Lay down and leave it on for about fifteen minutes and then wash it off. The swelling and the redness should be gone and the pimple should be visibly reduced! This oatmeal mask is soothing, effective, and not irritating!

7. Lemon

Overnight apply a bit of fresh lemon juice to the pimple to reduce its size and intensity. Wash it off with water the next morning. Use this home remedy only if your skin is not sensitive.

10. Cucumber

Try applying grated cucumber over the face and neck for the treatment of pimples and blackheads. This process should only take 15-20 minutes of your time. You can also ad 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice to the grated cucumber and mix it until you’ll have a paste and apply it on the affected area.

Must Shared tip: Eye Drops

It’s not really a “home remedy” but in case you have a bottle laying around, this is a very effective emergency treatment!
Refreshing eye drops, especially Visine, will reduce the redness and swelling of the pimple, which is perfect if you are already out and have a real emergency! Then cover the pimple with a bit concealer if necessary.

DF- Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
SW- My name is Sunny Williams, I’m british and I’m born near a windmill in Surrey. I’m a fashion designer and brand owner of the new label House of Sunny.

After achieving the top grade in my class at the University, I went on to internships at Savile Row learning about construction, fit and the quality that would later become very apparent in my vision for this unique blend between beautiful craft, intellect and a rich elegance.

DF- Where’s home at the moment?
SW- We have set up a studio on the London Road in surrey, 25 minutes from London bridge.

DF- What did you wanted to become when you were little?
SW- A dinosaur!

DF-When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?
SW- A trip to Paris when I was 7. I saw these Vogue ladies in a cafe and it had a profound impact on me. I came back to England wondering why all ladies did not dress in this way.

DF- How long have you been a designer?
SW- How long is a bit of string, its had to define, In starting building my views on fashion when I was 8, and things started from there.

DF- How did you start House of Sunny?
SW- I was always waiting for this to be built. As soon as I was ready my mentor Caroline Gation started me and I did my first show.

DF- How would you define your personal style?
SW-I’d like to think my authentic handwriting tells tales of the past as I reinvent the future. My clothes are about my love for life and explore the diverse richness of the natural and unnatural world. Driven by my own code of beauty I like to use clothes to escape and to express stories. I’m interested in art, tailoring and evoking the past uniform. Whether it’s a true or a good representation of a persons lifestyle or not, I like clothes to take you away, and I see the best dressers as Artists.

DF-Where do you get your inspiration from?
SW- Old french 60s cinema, Jean Luc Goddard.

DF-What was the first article of clothing you ever designed?
SW- I use to tailor all my clothes as nothing ever fitted me. This then ended up me making skinny trousers as I could never find the material I wanted.

DF-Could you describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing?
SW-  For me, I like chic clean and playful shapes, I start with shapes on the body, I’m obsessed with Fibonacci and lines and formula and I always feel you can evolve this into the Feng Shui of a body and the shapes and feelings they give. We evolved this into current shapes we would like to explore and go from there with twirl, pattern and final materials.

DF-What are your favorite colors to work with and why?
SW- It changes from season to season but I like iconic 60s mod colours, and strong black and white as it’s so chic.

DF-What are some of your fashion goals?
SW- To design for the rest of my live under a huge international brand. To be remembered for an artists touch, charming and to dress the very most beautiful and interesting people in a iconic trademark I have invented.

DF-What do you believe makes a quality article of clothing?
SW- The quality of the fabric is key.

DF-Who are some of your favorite designers?
SW- Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, YSL and Miuccia Prada forever ever.

DF-What matters to you most as a fashion designer?
SW- That my team works hard and everyone involved, including the customer, understands what we are trying to do.

DF- What’s the hardest part of your job?
SW- Not sleeping and still being super sharp.

DF-What is your inspiration behind your last collection?
SW- A journey on a glamourous train in search of mystery and adventure.

DF-How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?
SW- I make sure I have the exact vision in my head of how I want the end product.

DF-How do you select your models?
SW- The Sunny Girl is a blend between cool edge and high end luxury and chic. It’s nice if the model shows this very clearly.

DF-Do you prefer sketching designs or actually constructing them?
SW- The answer, the stage of stepping from one to the next, the travel from sketch to final is very rewarding.

DF- What does fashion mean to you?
SW- It’s very personal and should be about expression, but those who really have the education in its very foundations have the right to judge what is good and what is bad fashion. Sunny Williams.

DF- How would you define your city’s fashion?
SW- Eclectic to the max, it’s all about new ideas, however I do sometimes think this spoils the clean chic look that we use to have, I like the in-between.

DF-where is your favorite place in the world to live and work as a designer and why?
SW-  I want to move to Paris once my brand is ready. It’s the idea of Paris, but mostly the idea of being so very British that it’s charming in another place.

DF- What would you like to be doing in 5 years from now?
SW- Pitching the brand into new markets and dressing red carpets and have the most interesting client base, meeting and dressing the very best.

DF-Where would you like to retire?
SW-I’m not going to! I Will go out with a Bang.

DF-What advice do you have for aspiring fashion designers?
SW- Don’t do this unless you know that every hour will go into this. Have no dividing line between your life and your work… be your work.

Rooibos Beauty  Tips:

- Rooibos tea works well to combat zits. This tea leaf contains zinc and alpha hydroxyl acid. Boil the leaves in water and allow to cool. Use a cotton ball to apply the liquid on affected areas.
- Wash your face with cold or lukewarm Rooibos tea instead of water; it is a great alternative skin freshener.
- Rinse dark hair with strong Rooibos to give it a beautiful shine or use as a leave-in for lighter hair to provide a slight reddish tint to your colour.
- Treat tired and sensitive eyes to a rinse with lukewarm Rooibos or wipe out eyes gently with a face-cloth dipped in lukewarm Rooibos for instant relief from sore eyes of any kind. Alternatively, you can also hold cold Rooibos tea bags over your eyes to relieve your tired or red eyes.
- The following face-mask method has proven a saviour to many an acne sufferer: take half a cup of strong, plain Rooibos tea (fairly warm); add half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar; add 2 teaspoons of oatmeal
( if you’re allergic to oatmeal, use a gluten-free flour); allow the mixture to cool until it’s lukewarm; apply it over your face and neck; lie down and relax for about 15 minutes; rinse off with lukewarm plain Rooibos tea, then press to dry.
- If you have itchy or burning skin, then after a cleansing bath, wipe off your affected skin with a face-cloth moistened in Rooibos tea; press gently to dry ( do not rub, as this will only make the itching/burning worse). Alternatively, you can also add a few Rooibos tea bags to your bath water to sooth your skin.
- If you suffer from eczema, bathing the affected skin areas in Rooibos tea or applying it with cotton wool can provide soothing relief.

Some other useful tips:

- To make a really good cup of rooibos, use freshly boiled water. This ensures you get the best infusion or extraction from the dried leaves. You need to allow time for the leaves to infuse and open, releasing their fragrance and flavour. If using loose-leaf tea, the rule of thumb is one to two teaspoons per cup for two to four minutes, depending on the strength you like. If you prefer tea bags, work on one per cup. A longer extraction time will result in stronger tea. Once it is poured, enjoy immediately.
- Six cups of Rooibos per day holds definite health benefits, and specifically helps to reduce oxidative stress in the body and lower the risk of heart disease. The six cups of Rooibos should be spaced throughout the day to deliver optimum health benefits.
- Rooibos complements fruit flavours well and is therefore a popular ingredient in iced teas. To make a simple, refreshing iced tea, sweeten a strong pot of rooibos with honey and stir until the honey is dissolved. Leave in the fridge overnight and then add a touch of lemon or your favourite fruit juice. Cold rooibos can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks. It’s also a healthy way to add flavour to smoothies and fruit shakes. You can also use Rooibos as a meat marinade or simply add it to stews or soups instead of adding water. In some parts of South Africa you can now buy Rooibos-based yoghurts and drinking yoghurts.
- Pets with allergic skin conditions will definitely benefit from being rinsed with lukewarm Rooibos after a bath.

So in short, Rooibos can be used for achieving healthy skin, delaying the signs of aging, the treatment of acne, eczema, sunburn and tired eyes, offering shine for hair and even protecting your hair colour. And these are just some of the cosmetic benefits. Some of the rooibos health benefits are the prevention of life threatening diseases like cancer and heart disease, providing relief from stomach problems, assisting with detoxing and helping with anxiety or depression.
